Vintage Design
Swedish white gustavian sideboard in pine. The sideboard is solid pine with distressed white or light grey paint. Hardware in brass. The sideboard has a date and initials painted on the inside of the door, 1845 and MSD respectively. A sideboard is a classic gustavian antique with its characteristic model and shape. It embodies the faultless function and timeless elegance that the period is known for. The dating and initials are a charming connection to the past. The person whose initials are written was most likely female as Swedish last names were patronymic. Meaning the child’s last name was the father’s first name and -son for sons and -dotter for daughters. One of the drawers is missing the lock. Original working lock and key to the doors.
