This small but intricately crafted and designed bronze group depicts an Orientalist scene with two Arabian men and camels in a ruins landscape. Made by the foundry of Franz Bergman, it is executed in cold-painted bronze, and despite its small size it is superbly detailed and finished with a rare level of refinement. With a wonderfully realistic and appropriately muted colour palette, it shows two figures, one mounted one walking, processing through a desert setting, finding a brief moment of shade up the foliate of a large, leaning palm tree. Emblematic of Bergman’s acclaimed Orientalist oeuvre, this miniature is a collector’s highlight guaranteed.
