Vintage Design
Pedestal table from the Charles X period, veneered with speckled maple. It rests on four columns with struts. The furniture is decorated with gilded bronzes. A frieze of shells and hearts on the feet, a fall of palmette on the posts and four masks of theatrical tragedy surrounded by acanthus leaves on the belt. The ensemble is covered with a marble top in a beautiful emerald green color. The furniture of the Charles X period is elegant, light and easy to handle. They have generally sober forms with structures softened compared to the Empire period. Small tables such as this one are positioned close to various seats to promote comfort. The craftsmen of the time were very skilled in the technique of wood veneer and chose lighter materials to bring out the beauty of the pieces.
