From India, a 19th century decoratively painted wooden altar with a single door in the front opening to a single compartment, decorative carvings of horse heads top and bottom on each side, a prayerful carved figure below shelf and top horse head, painters of Hindu religious dancing figures in numerous panels on front, carved and painted aprons and moldings on all shelves and bottom. Paint decoration on all surfaces. On splayed feet. Some restoration. A beautiful and culturally significant work of furniture art.
