moreThe pitcher and the slop cup are conveniently matched but from different silver companies. It has no dents or dings. It has a blemish on the inside of the lid (see image). Not sure if it was original or repaired. The porcelain lining is intact and does not leak. The holes on the bottom are for airing out the pitcher after rising and not defects. The stand bottom is stamped Standard Silver Company of Toronto. Quadruple Plated 1135″. The bottom stamp on the pitcher states it was manufactured and guaranteed by the “Standard Silver Company of Toronto Special Hard White Metal 1135″ made between 1893 – 1912. The slop cup is stamped ” Wallace 992″ indicating it is after 1956.
Highly prized in middle-class homes in the early 20th Century, these decanters were kept polished and bright causing wear on the silver plate. This piece has been recently re-plated with sterling silver by Baroque Silversmith in Skokie, IL. The set comes with a stand, pitcher, and slop cup.
