Louis XV style chest of drawers with wood marquetry, decorated with gilt bronzes. It is decorated with marquetry of branches and flowers in different wood set in gilt bronze rocaille cartouches. The uprights are underlined by elegant openwork falls. The two drawers are linked by important rocaille bronzes in scrolls and the handles are made up of them. The two drawers can be closed with a key. The cambered legs are finished with bronze foliated sabots. The furniture is topped with a white breccia marble top. Under Louis XV, bronze allowed craftsmen a great deal of imagination in their compositions by combining different rocaille motifs. They favoured decoration over form, the curve over the straight line in moving ornamentation. This omnipresence of the rocaille motif is accompanied by numerous references to nature and plants. This chest of drawers from the end of the 19th century has the same fine chasing of the bronzes under Louis XV, as well as its ornamental repertoire. Its quality can be compared to that of the productions of François Linke (1855-1946), a great Parisian cabinetmaker of the end of the 19th century who used the vocabulary of the Louis XV style while giving it great originality.
