Contemporary Design
As shown in the small selection now produced by BD Barcelona, Dalí ’s work was not restricted to the traditional furnishing elements, but also included tap fittings, handles, printed fabrics and other objects. In the 1990s a group of experts, led by Oscar Tusquets, set themselves the task of turning the furniture Dalí had drawn for Jean-Michel Frank into reality. Amongst these items were the Leda chair and low table, taken from the painting “Femme à la tête rose” (1935). The prototypes were made by the sculptor Joaquim Camps and BD organized its production. © Salvador Dalí, Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí, Barcelona, 2014
In 2009 the 20th anniversary of the death of Salvador Dalí was commemorated. BD Barcelona payed special homage to the artist by producing a limited edition collection. All finishings are black and handcrafted giving the pieces a new meaning. The black label collection is a limited edition of 105 pieces (the age that Dalí would have been in the year 2009).
The table is made from cast brass with a Marquina marble table. The legs are patinated in black with a brushed table top that has been varnished in black and patinated.
