A good pair of antique 19th century Hispano-Moresque copper lustre pottery albarelli, circa 1850, Manises, Valencia, Spain, circa 1880.
A fine pair of antique albarelli (drug jars) from the town of Manises in the Valencia region of spain, famous for it’s pottery dating back to the medieval period. Pottery in this region was heavily influenced by Moorish culture from the North African Arabs that settled there from the 8th century onwards.
The vases/jars of delicate waisted shape & having a copper lustre glaze, the flared neck with and foot with a copper lustre band, the body of the vases having a light yellow ground & decorated with deer & floral devices in a blue & copper glaze.
Condition is very good, no damage or restoration noted.
