19th Century Butler’s Chest with Decorative Paint

A European wooden secretary chest, with original hand-painted finish, from the 19th century. This antique chest from Europe features a slanted fall-front at top, flanked between two small pull-out drawers, which opens to reveal open storage within a provide a deeper top. The are three full-sized and dove-tailed drawers housed in the case below, each fitted with a pair of decorative knob pulls and a single escutcheon set at center. The beauty of this piece however, is the original artisan hand-painted finish of intricately painted florals found throughout the top, front and both sides, with special attention to the secretary fall-front which depicts a village landscape with male and female figure in forefront. Color palette is primarily made of blues and greens, with salmon and gold accents.
