Vintage Design
We are delighted to offer for sale this rare original 18th century Northern English hand carved from solid oak Wainscot armchair circa 1720 A highly decorative and original piece with turned finials above a moulded and carved back panel, the down swept arms on turned arm supports and a boarded seat with moulded seat rail, on gun barrel forelegs with block feet joined by stretchers. The chair is exactly as you wish to find in, unrestored with old repairs, its held together with dowel nails, every single piece is hand sawn and you can see the saw marks most notably from the underside. We have cleaned waxed and polished it from top to bottom, there is a straight line timber shrinkage split down the middle of the back panel, otherwise it is exactly as it should be. Dimensions Height:- 114cm Width:- 64cm Depth:- 64cm Seat height:- 43.5cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description pertaining to the condition. Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of creasing and wear, we recommend annual waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
