Vintage Pontesbury Highboard in Wood

Originally, model “Pontesbury” is an English cupboard. Although England is often directly associated with antiques, red double -deckers and telephone cells, the land of these rich traditions in the 1960s is a driver of modern design. In the 1960s, the current of mostly Scandinavian modern furniture comes on the market, the cupboards in teak wood form a wonderful example of this. Sleek design, beautiful materials and warm colors. England has traditionally been a country full of factories and good craftsmen, some of these manufacturers quickly respond to the emerging trend and switched on that what we now call the mid -century style. There is a completely unique view of the Scandinavian design, which, partly due to traditional craftsmanship, looks slightly different than a piece of furniture from, for example, Sweden or Denmark. We often see a small twist, a design joke, or the use of typical constructions at English furniture. Also in dimensions, English furniture, for us, Dutch and Belgians, who think in centimers, are a bit strange. Not surprising of course if you know that inches are used there as dimensions. A piece of furniture from England can best be described as a combination between a Dutch and Danish vintage furniture, in terms of ease of use and quality, the best from two worlds! It is a versatile, very well -kept and beautiful cupboard, with both slider, and turn doors. There are also drawers present. The whole is beautiful in shape and size and stands on a frame of slightly darker wood with sturdy conical legs.
