Pair of two-seater sofas Coronado, Design Tobia Scarpa for B & B Italia. Italy, 60s origin Italy Period 60s Designer Tobia Scarpa (Venice, 1 January 1935) is an Italian architect and designer. He worked for a large part of his career alongside his wife Afra Bianchin (Montebelluna, 28 March 1937 – Trevignano, 30 July 2011). Their works can be found in many museums in the United States and Europe, including MoMA and Louvre. He collaborated with companies like B & B Italia, San Lorenzo Silver and Knoll International. It was also awarded numerous awards and prizes such as the Gold Compass in 1969 and the International Forum Design in 1992. The work of design of the couple is composed of architecture and objects of everyday use including furniture, clothing, interior design and glass work. In their designs they focused on the technical and aesthetic possibilities of the materials used. The work of Tobia and Afra was greatly influenced by his father, the architect and designer Carlo Scarpa.
